A US Soldier who plead guilty for his role in the rape and killing of a 14 year old Iraqi girl and her family is sentenced to life, with eligibility of parole in 20 years.

Specialist James Barker was sentenced to life after pleading guilty to the charges. Barker has also agreed to aid prosecutors in the court martials against the other 3 members of his squad charged with the same crimes.

It is believed that Barker entered into a kind of plea bargin, by pleading guilty and agreeing to testify against his fellows, Barker avoided the death sentence, acdepting life in prison for his crimes.
