US Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham is to be posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor, the highest military decoration in the country. [edit] Details
Jason Dunham saw that one of the men they were questioning had released a live grenade. He warned his commrades, and jumped on the grenade, using his helmet to control as much of the blast as possible. Dunham was seriously injured, and died 8 days after the incident in a hospital in Maryland, USA.
His courage and sacrifice have been referenced by George Bush and various Senators, but the announcement to award the Medal of Honor to Dunham was only made last Friday. Dunhams will be the second Medal of Honor awarded for actions in the current Iraq war.
