[edit] Abstract

UK Police arrest 37-year-old supermarket worker Tom Stephens on suspicion of murdering 5 women near Ipswich.

[edit] Details

Tom Stephen was arrested and is being held at an unnamed police station in the UK. Last week Stephens was interviewed by both the police and BBC News, where he admitted to knowning all 5 of the murdered women before their deaths.

A total of 5 bodies have been recovered in and around the Ipswich area. After the first body was discovered by a member of the public on December 2nd, police began an extensive search, concerned for other women who had recently been reported missing in the area. By December 12, police had found a total of 5 bodies in wooded areas and ponds.

All 5 women, aged between 19 and 29, had been reported missing recently, and it appears all 5 women worked as prostitutes and were drug users. Some in the media had compared the series of deaths to Jack The Ripper - a serial killer from the past believed to have killed many prostitutes in London long ago.

In the interview with the BBC last week, Tom Stephens outlined his relationships with the 5 women, saying he had known them for 6 to 18 months. He also said that police had already interviewed him and had taken his laptop computer and mobile phone at that time.

Tom Stephens has a MySpace page, and on it has numberous pics, blog entries and info about himself.

Stephens is currently being held at an undisclosed location and awaiting further interrogation.
