While not using the words himself, Tony Blair agreed with an interviewer, Sir David Frost from Al-Jazeera's new English channel, that the invasion of Iraq by US and UK troops has been a disaster.
Blair continued his response by noting that the results in Iraq are not a result of bad planning, but "it's difficult because there's a deliberate strategy -- al Qaeda with Sunni insurgents on one hand, Iranian-backed elements with Shia militias on the other -- to create a situation in which the will of the majority for peace is displaced by the will of the minority for war."
Some British opposition MPs have called Blair's remarks a confession that his strategy in the middle east has failed.
Popular British newspapers have run the story on their front pages, with headlines such as "Iraq invasion a disaster, Blair admits on Arab TV"
