Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death for his role in the massacre at the Shiite town of Dujail in 1982. On December 29th, 2006 Hussein was put to death, he quivered in fear as he hanged by a noose and now is no more.

After a trail that lasted for more than a year, Former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death this Sunday in Baghdad. The city of Baghdad was under a complete vehicle ban that Sunday of the sentencing.

There were reports of both celebration and protest in the streets of cities and towns across Iraq.

During the reading of the verdict, Saddam Hussein shouted in defience "God is good ... God is great ... Down with the invaders ... Go to hell with you laws and your articles and your clauses."
