[edit] Abstract
Recently, a number of Russian generals have been publicly speculating on how a strike on Iran would take place. They concede that U.S. numbers would eventually ensure US air supremacy in Iran, after considerable U.S. losses.

Russian Chief of General Staff Yuri Baluyevsky said that a U.S. strike on Iran would most likely entail air strikes on Iraq and Yugoslavia, an attempt to hinder or destroy Iran’s radar network, and to launch a massive strike against Iran using cruise missiles.
General Yuri Solovyov, in charge of Moscow's air defenses, says the he believes that despite considerable training and arming of Iran's Anti-Aircraft defense system by Russian experts, a U.S. led air attack would eventually win the Americans air supremacy in Iran.
Both Generals admit that the sheer numbers of weapons and aircraft available to the U.S. would eventually win-out over Iran's Anti-Aircraft defense systems. They also point that they expect the US to suffer considerable losses before achieving control of the air space over Iran.
Both Generals also point out that US air supremacy in Iran is a far cry from US victory in Iran - and the Russians are saying that US victory in Iran is "impossible".
The Anti-Aircraft defense systems in Iran were sold and installed by Russians. In January of this year Russia announced that it had completed delivery of its latest Anti-Aircraft technology: TOR-M1 anti-aircraft missiles. Russia claims that the missiles are short range and suitable for defensive purposes only.
All this centers around the Iran's nuclear program, which Iran is pursuing for what it claims to be solely power generation purposes, but which the US & Israel worry is actually for the creation of nuclear weapons.
