[edit] Abstract

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that Iran's nuclear fuel production capability has reached industrial levels. There were not many details included in the announcement, but analysts believe it means Iran has finished building many more uranium gas enrichment centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear facility.

During a speech made during 'nuclear technology' day in Iran, President Ahmadinejad announced Iran's new industrial capability to enrich uranium and produce nuclear fuel. Iran has come under fire from the UN and countries such as Israel, the US and the UK for continuing its nuclear program against UN sanctions calling for it to stop.

Iran has always claimed that its nuclear program is intended for power generation and peaceful purposes only. However many of the western countries have claimed that Iran's nuclear capability will lead towards the construction and use of nuclear weapons against their enemies - namely the western countries (US, UK, Israel at the very least).

In February Iran told the world that it had over 300 uranium gas enrichment centrifuges working at its Natanz plant, and that it planned to have over 3000 working within a month or two.

In reaction to the mounting international pressure for them to desist their nuclear research, Mr. Ahmadinejad warned that they may 'review' Iran's membership in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty - a treaty signed by many countries, including Iran, agreeing not to pursue and to not allow any other country to pursue nuclear technology.

Of course, this treaty is fine for countries already using nuclear technology for both peaceful and destructive purposes, like the US, the UK, Israel and more.
