[edit] Abstract
A new nail designed to better withstand hurricanes, earthquakes and other forces of nature wins 'Innovation Of The Year 2006' award.
[edit] Details
Inspired by the failings of standard wood nails in the face of strong winds and earth quakes, engineer Ed Sutt has created a new wood nail, called the HurriQuake, that better resists being pulled out, sheared-in half, twisted, and pulled through the wood.
Having stronger nails helps to create stronger wooden structures without having to change building plans, materials, or construction .
